This return from Sydney to the UK has resulted in the worst jet lag I've had to date. I was wide awake at 11:30 pm last night (8:30 am in Sydney), and only managed to get back to sleep around 6am. You can accomplish a lot of things while being awake at 3 in the morning. Ironing. Dishes. Finding a new favorite tv show. (Being Human - about roommates who are a Vampire, a Werewolf, and a Ghost. Coming soon to the US. Look for it if you like that sort of thing.)
My bizarre sleep schedule resulted in my taking another day off of work. And it was a gorgeous day, sunny and warm. I joined some friends (Mother, 4-Year-old, 2-Year-old, and 9-Month-old to play soccer (I was declared "really good at this" by the 4-Year-old), chat about the virtues of electronic book readers, walk in the sun, and watch the soldiers march by for the changing of the guard at Windsor Castle.
And then 4-Year-old noticed the police motorcycles coming up the long approach to the castle. They were followed by two black cars, and we wondered aloud who was coming with such a low key procession.
Queen Elizabeth, that's who, dressed in a Yellow hat and coat, and waving to everyone in the park as she went by.
And I was there to see her because I couldn't sleep last night.

So cool! You met the Queen!
